1) This video is about a restaurant in Japan that refused to serve Korean customers.
Do you think it is OK for the owner to not serve Korean customers because of the reasons he stated?
2) This video is about a young Japanese woman and her 4yr old son who live in Florida, USA. They came to Japan on vacation and experienced discrimination.
Please watch the video (7:24 minutes) and listen to her experience.
What advice would you give her? Do you think she experienced discrimination in every situation? Please explain your answer and why.

1. Though I didn't understand everything in the video, I think it's not ok for the owner to not serve Korean customers just because of the reasons he stated. Yes, there are really rude people around us and not just Koreans but not all of them are rude. When you do such thing,isn't it you're acting like one of them? They are human, too, they are your customers and you're the owner of the restaurant. You need to have the patience of a saint because everyday you're going to encounter different kinds of people and all of us have different attitudes. Serve and treat them well. I think that's the best revenge (I don't know if this is the right word) you can do.
ReplyDelete2. I can relate to the woman in the second video. But I think she didn't experience discrimination in every situation because personally speaking when I and my mom are talking in Tagalog, some people are looking or staring at us but it's not a kind of dirty look. They always do that maybe because I really look Japanese but when I speak I use Tagalog. I don't mind when they do that. For me, sometimes it's normal to do that when you heard someone talking in foreign language because it's new to you.
I can't blame her if that's what she thinks because maybe she's not just used to it. About the lady who shoved her at metro, yes it's pretty shocking at first because I know that she also didn't expect Japanese to be like that.
I can say that she experienced discrimination when a man told her that if her son can't learn Japanese, they should get back home and yes, it's true that there are restaurants and bars that don't allow foreigners to enter. It's like you can't have your own right even if you're a Japanese but grew up in different country. I didn't expect Japanese to be like that and neither she but I think we just have to be open minded because Japan is not really an English speaking country. And maybe we should search something about a country before visiting it for our own safety and comfort.
When I meet you on April I thought you are Japanese.So I looked you when you spoke English.I was little surprised. But I thought I wanted to be your friend.So my eyes to you was not dirty look.I want the woman to not worry when she is looked Japanese people. I think it is not prejudice.

①I watched this animation and I thought it is not good to refuse entering shop, because as for culture and manners being different, there is no help for it, at first. But I was interested why it is only Korean, and I examined it on the internet. Then it was written as ''Korean is shut up, quarret immediately, steal the thing of the shop and eat kimchi anywhere'' there. I read it and thought that this is not racial discrimination, is manner of Korean only bad?

I thought its not OK to not to serve Korean customers.Not only Korean that has rude behavior.Some of the Japanese people have too.Owner can`t just say taht Koreans are bad.I have some friends in Korea but they are really nice.It doen`t depend on the place we born.It`s our personality.So if the owner really don`t want the rude people to come to his restaurant,then he have to judge people to let them into his restaurant instead of saying this country is not allow.But that is impossible so he have to be patient and let all the people allow.

I think the first video is not good way.The old man just see paetially koreans that can not represent all koreans are bad.I think japan also has bad people we can not only see the part to decline that is all.If he was really worry he can report it to the police.police will help him solve these problems.

but i think the woman is likes me.when i first time come to japan.in junior high school i can not speaking japanese. first week some japanese talked with me. afther them they was not talking with me.because they think talk with me is difficult.I can not understand whats mean.they shoud explain to me.
